The 2016 Verve checks in as a Grenache-dominated blend that includes 23% Petite Sirah, 7% Roussanne, and 5% Syrah. Seeing 25% stems and 25 months in a mix of seasoned barrels, it sports a deep ruby/purple color as well as impressive notes of blackberries, mulberries, ground herbs, spiced meats, and chocolate. It's medium to full-bodied and beautifully textured, with plenty of fruit and impeccable balance. It's going to shine for over a decade.

The 2016 Verve offers an intriguing combination of Grenache-driven flavors, but with the structural underpinnings and energy of Syrah. If that sounds appealing, well, it is. Grilled herbs, leather, smoke and incense overtones add nuance, but it is the wine's vibrancy that I find most compelling. This is an absolutely delicious, mid-weight red from Sanguis that will drink well right out of the gate.
A blend of 65% Grenache, 23% Petite Sirah, 7% Roussanne and 5% Syrah, the 2016 Verve has a medium ruby color and pretty notes of violet and blueberry to begin, with Earl Grey tea leaves, moss-covered bark, dusty earth, charcuterie and garrigue with a core of ripe red and black fruits. Medium-bodied and rounded in the mouth, it gives up intense floral-tinged fruits with soft, plush tannins and juicy acidity, finishing long and spicy. Delicious!
