The 2018 Verve is a blend of co-fermented Grenache, Petit Verdot and Roussanne. It has a medium garnet color and alluring scents of dried red cherry and orange with savory tones of mushroom, wet tobacco, autumn leaves and aniseed. The palate balances concentrated, ripe fruit, bright acidity and powdery tannins and boasts a wave of spicy accents across the long finish. 150 cases of this detailed style of Grenache were made.

Grenache takes center stage in the 2018 Verve. Crushed flowers, sweet red berry fruit, spice, tobacco and orange peel give the 2018 tons of aromatic nuance. There is a bit of firmness in the tannin, but nothing a few years in bottle can’t take care of. A burst of floral aromatics and red-toned fruit linger on the energetic finish. Verve is a blend of Grenache/Roussanne and Petit Verdot/Roussanne co-fermented lots.
The ruby/plum-hued 2018 Verve is based largely on Grenache (80%) yet includes small amounts of Petit Verdot and Roussanne. It’s a medium-bodied, savory, meaty, nicely textured beauty revealing lots of mulled Bing cherry and savory red fruits as well classic pepper, game, and sous bois notes. I like it today, and I see no reason it won’t evolve for 7-8 years or more.
