The 2020 Chambertin Clos-de-Bèze Grand Cru has a primal nose with black cherries, wild strawberries, a touch of wild mint and clementines. It is not the most complex, but it is attractive all the same. It needs a little more precision and mineralité . The palate is medium-bodied with a citrus-fresh entry. Orange zest, mandarin, plenty of red fruit and real mineralité on the finish make this a sophisticated Clos de Bèze that will give a lot of pleasure. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.

The "regular" bottling of Duroché's 2020 Chambertin-Clos de Bèze Grand Cru is a great wine in its own right, offering up notes of dark berries, plums, smoked meats, sweet soil tones, black truffle and licorice. Full-bodied, layered and multidimensional, it's broad and perfumed, with a concentrated core of fruit, velvety tannins and a long, resonant finish.
The 2020 Chambertin Clos-de-Bèze Grand Cru, one of my favourite cuvées from the domaine, has a wonderful bouquet with rose petals infusing the shimmering red fruit, a subtle marine influence developing with aeration. The palate is well balanced with supple tannins, so finely chiselled with a harmonious, silky smooth finish that lingers in the mouth. Fans out wonderful - what a superb Clos-de-Bèze.

Domaine Duroché has, under Pierre Duroché, become one of the most sought-out and respected wine domaines in Gevrey-Chambertin. The wines are delicate and detailed, yet with old-vine intensity, a clear sense of place and style – and it’s easy to see why they’ve rapidly become so in-demand.
