From a north-facing site of very old vines in Carneros, the 2022 Syrah Solitaire Truchard Vineyard is 100% Syrah raised in 40% new larger format barrels. Classic Côte Rôtie-like notes of red and black berries, spring flowers, bacon fat, and violets all define the aromatics, and its round, supple, and silky on the palate, with tons of charm and character. It's a hidden gem in the vintage that will keep for a decade, although I love it today.

The 2022 Solitaire is 100% Estrella Clone Syrah from old vines. Dark and ample, the 2022 possesses notable textural depth and overall presence, Black olive, scorched earth, clove, licorice and incense add to an impression of gravitas. The 2022 packs a pretty serious punch but naturally offers a little less heft than usual this year.
