Sweet, bold and expressive, the 2013 Pinot Noir Sta. Rita Hills shows the personality of the appellation in spades. Although quite voluptuous and creamy, the 2013 also possesses lovely underlying energy that gives the wine a sense of tension and also balances some of the more overt qualities that are present. This is another delicious appellation level Pinot from Foxen. Vineyard sources are John Sebastiano and La Encantada.

If you're looking for a classic Sta. Rita Hills Pinot Noir for not much buck, look no further than the 2013 Pinot Noir Sta. Rita Hills from Foxen. Like all the wines here, it was destemmed and spent 17 months in French oak, with this cuvee seeing roughly 30% new (the single vineyard varies from 30-50% new). It offers a plump, rounded, supple and sexy style to go with beautiful spice, rose petal and sweet red and black fruits. Drink this medium-bodied, layered and exceedingly pure Pinot over the coming 5-6 years.
(made from fruit grown in the Bien Nacido, Riverbench and Solomon Hills vineyards; no new oak): Bright red. Highly perfumed scents of spicy redcurrant, raspberry, fresh flowers and smoky minerals. Juicy red berry flavors pack a solid punch but come off as lithe. Brisk red berry skin and white pepper qualities dominate a long, lively finish firmed by dusty tannins.
