I also loved the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon XI, which represents a terrific value in Napa Valley Cabernet. Based on 89% Cabernet Sauvignon, about 4% Merlot, 3% Malbec, 3% Petite Verdot, and the rest Cabernet Franc, its deep purple color is followed by a terrific nose of red cassis, spiced blackcurrants, dried tobacco, chocolate, and classy oak. Slightly more up-front and plush than the Laki’s Vineyard, it’s still medium to full-bodied and offers beautiful purity of fruit as well as a rounded, expansive mouthfeel that keeps you coming back to the glass. Drink this beauty any time over the coming 10-15 years.
