Similar in style to the 2016, the 2014 Chardonnay 3D offers a medium to full-bodied, forward, supple style as well as classic pineapple, lemon, and rocky mineral aromas and flavors. It’s drinking beautifully today, and I would lean towards enjoying bottles over the coming 5-7 years. This was another thrilling lineup from Greg Brewer, and I consistently rate these wines as some of the greatest in the Sta. Rita Hills, as well as all of Santa Barbara County. In addition to the latest releases, I was also able to taste retrospectives of his Chardonnay 3D and Pinot Noir Machado, which only reaffirmed my belief in the quality and age-worthiness of these wines. These are brilliant wines.

The light gold colored 2014 Chardonnay 3 D is a fresh, lively and beautifully defined Chardonnay. It offers lots of white fruits, white flowers, brioche and caramelized citrus characteristics to go with a fresh, lively, gorgeously pure style on the palate. This is pure class, yet also packs ample fruit and texture. Drink this beauty anytime over the coming 4-5 years.
The 2014 Chardonnay 3-D is the most powerful and dense of the Brewer-Clifton Chardonnays. There is no shortage of depth or concentration here, although I feel the 3-D has a bit less nuance and detail than some of the other Chardonnays in the lineup. At times, the 3-D feels more like a Pinot in its construction, weight and overall phenolic profile.
