Note di degustazione
This ruby-colored wine has creamy cherry aromas and a velvety (almost pasty) texture, a medium body, and lively blueberries and cherries on the palate. I am concerned about this wine's high acidity level. Meo believes it just needs time for the body to build, but my instincts suggest consuming it before the fruit dissipates and all that is left is acidic harshness. The village appellation offerings from Vosne and Nuits have the lowest pHs (3.35) of Meo's wines (the rest are between 3.45 and 3.5). Red-ruby color. Cassis, licorice and spice on the nose, along with a floral nuance. Fresh but on the lean side. Has good structure and cut but finishes with slightly dry tannins. The yield here, Meo admits, was around 50 hectoliters per hectare, while "all the serious wines" were in the more reasonable 30-40 range in '96.
