Last of the Pinot Noirs, the 2020 Pinot Noir Kokoro is a selection from the single vineyards, and there are a tiny 900 bottles made. Its light ruby/plum color is followed by a Burgundian bouquet of ripe cherries, spiced strawberries, spring flowers, scorched earth, and forest floor. Complex and nuanced aromatically, it hits the palate with medium to full body, ripe yet present tannins, wonderful overall balance, and a great finish. As with many of the 2020s, a year in the cellar will do it well, and it should have a solid decade or more of longevity.

The 2020 Pinot Noir Kokoro is racy and extroverted to the core. There's good depth and plenty of richness, but I don't find the Kokoro meaningfully better than the vineyard designate Pinots. Dark red/purplish fruit, white pepper, herbs and orange peel emerge with a bit of time in the glass. There is certainly plenty to like, but I prefer the singularity of the vineyard designates.
