Punteggio 92+/100 · Da bere 2024-2036, Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Mar 2017

Bright red. Expressive aromas of raspberry, white pepper and wild herbs. Juicy, spicy and penetrating, with the pepper and herb elements carrying through on the palate. In a very tight stage today, showing the brisk acidity it displayed from barrel a year ago but hiding its richness. The Clos de Bèze has more material and depth, but with its substantial tannins this taut wine may need at least as long to come into harmony.

Dense, ripe fruit with an overlay of something slightly overripe. Tight knit. Certainly well built and chunky, but the flavour is veering into the cooked spectrum, for me. (RH)

(from vines on the Morey side of the cru; white marl on the upper part of the parcel and darker soil further down): Bright, dark red. Brooding aromas of black fruits, garrigue and licorice lifted by wild mint and white pepper. Lush and thick in texture, but with its superb volume nicely cut by brisk acidity. Flavors of blackberry, spices and herbs carry through a very long, highly perfumed back end, where the tannins are supple and harmonious.
