The winemaking team devised this bottling to essentially be a “Côtes du Walla Walla” to deliver at a great price. Displaying a deep ruby edge and magenta core, the 2018 Double Lucky #8 begins with a dark-fruited and spicy pop from the Grenache and Syrah as floral and dusty cherry aromas sway with elegance. Medium to full-bodied, the wine is marked with the same umami character as the rest of the range and offers a spicy and slightly smoky nuance followed by bright, fresh and dusty red fruits along with red and black spice tones across the mid-palate. The wine glides to a lively and brilliant finish that should drink well until its 10th birthday.

A new wine from this team is the 2018 Double Lucky, a forward, incredibly charming effort revealing some classic Rocks goodness in its bright black cherries, scorched earth, graphite, and spicy, herbal aromas and flavors. Medium-bodied on the palate, it has a round, nicely textured mouthfeel, good acidity, firmer tannins, and a clean finish. It certainly gives a hint of the style of this estate in a more forward, chewy style to drink over the coming 4-6 years.
