Punteggio 92/100 · Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, Nov 2016

Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting in Beaune, the 2013 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Amoureuses had an odd bouquet, disjointed at first, a little reductive but coming together in the glass, though never fully conveying the joie-de-vivre of sumptuousness that you look for in this vineyard. The palate is medium-bodied with fleshy, ripe dark berry and white pepper notes. It feels dense in the mouth and though it initially felt a little "predictable," I noticed how it rapidly meliorated in the glass and its nuances and mineralité began to be conveyed. It needs plenty of time. Tasted September 2016.

Bright, dark red. Tighter and muskier than the Bonnes-Mares; shows terrific incipient complexity but needs aeration to coax out its aromas. This incredibly rich, deep, spherical wine displays great volume to its flavors of raspberry, Oriental spices and flowers complicated by a hint of animal fur that dissipated with aeration. Endless, ripely tannic, building finish. A knockout 2013 with an extraordinarily seamless texture and outstanding fullness in the mouth. Its early fruit sweetness may make it drinkable earlier than the Bonnes-Mares but it will also live for a long time. Broadens and thickens on the back half, finishing with fully ripe tannins and superb building persistence. Roumier considers this wine to be similar in quality to the 2012 bottling, "but more chalky and less sweet."

Bright, dark red. Very ripe yet sappy aromas of crushed red berries and rocky minerality. Less generous and obvious today in the middle palate than the Bonnes-Mares in spite of its full ripeness, owing to its uncanny mineral tension. This wonderfully weightless wine is best today on its rising, palate-staining crescendo of a finish, which leaves the mouth perfumed.
