Crabapple and lemon prominently marked by their pips and skins make for a nose and palate impression piquant and tart-edged – belying what is in fact analytically speaking by no means unusually high acidity. Smoky pungency of marjoram and an aura of crushed stone add aromatic allure, anticipating the herbal intensity and mineral diversity exhibited on a firm, full palate and gripping, high-energy finish. (Its name – “best cask” – notwithstanding, this constitutes an amalgam of both tank- and cask-raised lots.)
