Note di degustazione
Heady scents and a succulently rich palate presence of honeydew melon liqueur, quince jelly and cherry preserves turn tasting this glossy, creamy, opulent Auslese into an act of self-indulgence. The honeyed slick of botrytis that accompanies its lingering finish adds to the wine’s extravagant sense of ripeness. Some counterpoint may well emerge with time, but this is already irresistible. (There was also a Badstube Spätlese this year, but unfortunately I somehow missed out on tasting it.)

The 2015 Bernkastler Badstube Riesling Auslese is clear, intense and fresh on the nose, with super ripe but still fine stone fruit, grapefruit and lemon aromas; these aromas are intermixed with flinty flavors and a hint of sur-lie aging (although it was bottled pretty early in April). On the palate, this is a sweet and very delicate Auslese with a lush and piquant tropical fruit, fine acidity and lingering salinity in the finish. Very well structured, with grip and tension.
