Apple and white peach, wreathed in iris, aromatically set the tone for this hauntingly bittersweet bottling. Like the corresponding feinherb Domprobst, it displays only a hint of overt sweetness, but the residual sugar is highly supportive of the wine’s luscious fruit on a subtly creamy yet animatingly bright palate. Piquancy of apple seed, peach kernel and raw hickory nut serve for stimulating counterpoint on a resonant, almost implacably persistent finish.

From 110-year-old ungrafted vines and tiny, always healthy but highly ripe berries, the 2017 Zeltinger Sonnenuhr Riesling Spätlese Feinherb "Ur-alte Reben" displays a clear, deep, intense and coolish-mineral bouquet with flinty notes. Rich and concentrated on the palate, this is a lush, precise, elegant and structured Riesling with lingering salinity and mineral pull. This is a fabulous Riesling for now and the next two or more decades. The salinity gives so much energy and vitality, and it doesn't stop even after you have swallowed this gorgeous wine. Highly recommended. Tasted in March 2019.
Juicy and racy simultaneously. This is a serious Mosel Spätlese that\'s just off-dry with quite some power at the long-driving and mineral finish. Drink or hold. Made from very old vines.
