A gorgeously pure nose of cassis, blueberries, violets, tobacco, and sandalwood give way to a perfectly balanced, full-bodied, layered 2019 that has great tannins, ample mid-palate depth, and a great, great finish. Full-throttle to the core, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon ERA packs a huge punch. Massive extraction and copious new oak suffocate the fruit, while huge, bitter tannins attenuate the finish. The 2019 is a good wine, but it is not at all complex or nuanced. Why make a wine like this?
Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon ERA delivers evocative notes of crème de cassis, plum preserves and wild blueberries with touches of tobacco leaf, pencil lead, clove oil and lilacs, plus a hint of crushed rocks.
