Note di degustazione
The bright ruby-colored 2000 Nuits-St.-Georges Murgers exhibits a nose of spicy red cherries and hints of cedar. Plush, velvety-textured, and ample, it is a medium-bodied, broad, gorgeously-textured wine. Sweet layers of spicy red fruits are found throughout its extroverted flavor profile and voluptuous finish. It should be consumed over the next 5-6 years. Concerning the 2000s, Meo said, “they were exceedingly ripe, like the 1999s, but without the acidity of that vintage. Rot was present, but not an overwhelming problem if you were willing to do what was necessary. The other interesting point is that the grapes had exceedingly thin skins.” Importer: Kermit Lynch Wine Merchant, Berkeley, CA; tel. (510) 524-1524

Cask sample Deep crimson. Scented liqueur sort of nose. Very dramatic. Slightly oaky. Full and rich. Flashy, but expensive! (JR)
Bright dark red. Cool, pure aromas of blackberry, violet and mint. Like a basket of fruit on the palate; bright and spicy, with a note of oaky torrefaction. Possesses solid acidity for the year. Finishes firmly tannic and subtly persistent. Aging in Allier barrels, as Meo feels this kind of wood complements more acidic wines.
