Punteggio 17.5/20 · Da bere 2020-2033, Jancis Robinson MW, Mar 2022

Grown in the La Paciencia Vineyard, planted at 3.5’ x 3.5’ at an angle that helps reduce sun exposure and thus also slow the ripening arc slightly. Biodynamically farmed. While the aromas open quite restrained, the palate brings forth a juicy burst of flavour carrying mixed fruits, pleasing earthiness, and a hint of cocoa powder. The wine is savoury with lightly tactile tannin and a nice structural focus carrying a lot of freshness and a persistent mix of floral notes and distinctive spices. It is quite a complex, while lifted Tempranillo. The acidity is generous, mouth-watering and lengthy. Delicious. (ECB)

(all destemmed; 30% new oak): Bright ruby-red. A hint of smoky reduction to the rather Graves-like aromas of dark cherry, boysenberry, mocha, warm rocks and tobacco. Then surprisingly juicy, spicy and penetrating in the middle palate, showing terrific intensity and texture to its fresh red fruit and spice flavors. Finishes classically dry, with a firm spine of broad, dusty tannins and a touch of savory smokiness. I'm impressed! (13.8% alcohol)

Offering up aromas of cassis, dried berries, candied peel, panforte, raw cocoa and baked earth, the 2015 Tempranillo la Paciencia has already integrated its 30% new oak. On the palate, it's full-bodied, seamless and layered, with a deep core of savory fruit and a structuring chassis of rich, fine-grained tannins and a mouthwateringly stony finish.

Lastly, the 2015 Tempranillo La Paciencia offers ample cedarwood, bloody meat, blackcurrants, and violets aromatics in a rich, full-bodied, beautifully layered package. It carries the most weight and depth of the cuvées from Boucier, as well as tannin, yet it’s already impossible to resist. Drink this beauty anytime over the coming 10-15 years. Made by Elizabeth Boucier of Cayuse (the wines are made at Cayuse), these latest releases under her No Girls label are unquestionably some of the best to date. While the wines always lean towards the more fresh, elegant end of the spectrum, they’ve gained depth and richness over the past handful of years. Today, they’re certainly on par with anything coming out of the region.
