The 2018 Rapszodia, 100% Cabernet Franc, is finally starting to flesh out a bit. Sweet, perfumed aromatics and bright saline accents lend energy to a wine that literally soars out of the glass. This statuesque, alluring beauty needs a few years in bottle to come into its own, but it is already starting to show the texture I hoped would develop when I first tasted it in barrel in 2019. The dark red/purplish fruit remains quite vibrant, while the tannins are beautifully meshed into the wine's fabric.

The 2018 Rapszodia (100% Cabernet Franc) is up with the finest expressions of this variety in the world, offing a dense purple hue as well as stunning notes of blackcurrants, dark chocolate, spring flowers, and scorched earth. More exotic violet and orange blossom notes develop with time in the glass, and it’s full-bodied and as seamless as they come. I’d happily drink bottles today, but it’s going to improve over the short-term and have 20-25 years of prime drinking.

The 2018 Rapszodia has really closed down in bottle. Today it is the wine's depth and textural richness that impress most. From barrel, the 2018 was a bit light, but élevage has certainly taken care of that. The aromatics are a bit closed today though I can't wait to taste this with a bit more age, as it is only showing a fraction of what I saw from barrel.

The 2018 Rapszodia is made from 100% Cabernet Franc. Planted in 2002, this block of vines is located right across from the Block 1 Merlot, closer to the river, composed mainly of heavy clay. The wine was aged in French oak, 86% new. Deep garnet-purple in color, it prances out of the glass with the most gorgeous perfume of redcurrant jelly, black raspberries and fresh black berries with hints of crushed rocks, tilled soil, violets and cinnamon plus a touch of garrigue. Medium to full-bodied, firm and grainy with an amazing backbone of freshness supporting all that tightly wound, multilayered fruits, it finishes with epically long mineral and floral layers. Wow-o-wow. 160 cases were made.
