Punteggio 92/100 · Da bere 2018-2038, Robert Parker, Oct 2015

The 2013 Metisse Jumping Goat Vineyard (78% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Petit Verdot and 7% Merlot) from this vineyard in St. Helena was coiled and tightly knit, but showing loads of upside and potential. An opaque ruby/purple color and notes of strained blackcurrants, camphor and licorice were all present in this full-bodied wine, which also has a subtle dose of toasty oak (about 70% new French barrels are used). This wine needs another 2-3 years of cellaring and should keep well for two decades or more.

Punteggio 95/100 · Da bere 2019-2033, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Oct 2015

Melka's 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Jumping Goat Vineyard Métisse impresses for its energy, tension and nuance, all of which serve to balance the wine's inherent richness. Sweet red cherry, plum, spice and pomegranate are pushed forward in a wine that exudes richness. This is an especially fresh, vibrant wine for this northern sector of St. Helena, most likely because of the inclusion of a good deal of Petit Verdot in the blend. All the elements are in the right place.

Punteggio 92-95/100 · Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Dec 2014

Melka's 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Jumping Goat Vineyard Métisse pulses with energy that gives an extra dimension of pure vibrancy to the flavors. Cinnamon, exotic flowers, citrus and mocha blossom in the glass, adding considerable nuance and complexity to a core of expressive dark fruit. This is a superb wine in the making.
