I was also able to taste a bottle of the 2007 Sorella, and this is clearly one of the finest vintages from this estate. Still youthful ruby-hued with no signs of bricking or evolution in its color, it has a gorgeous bouquet of red and black currants, smoked tobacco, lead pencil shavings, and flowery incense. Full-bodied, perfectly balanced, and seamless, it reminds me of a First Growth Bordeaux in its stature and balance. This riveting example of Washington State Cabernet Sauvignon is drinking perfectly today yet will evolve nicely for another decade and have a gradual decline after that. The 2007 is 72% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Cabernet Franc, 10% Merlot, and 3% Petit Verdot, all from the Champoux Vineyard in the Horse Heaven Hills.

A prodigious wine, with youthful notes of black currants, licorice, toasted bread and graphite, the 2007 Sorella (72% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Cabernet Franc, 10% Merlot and 3% Petit Verdot) is full-bodied, rounded and sexy on the palate, with that broad, expansive profile that's the hallmark of this great vintage in Washington State. Still youthful and beautifully structured, yet with no shortage of richness, texture or balance, feel free to enjoy bottles anytime over the coming two decades.
Dark crimson. Racy and a bit sweet. Bordeaux blend. Really sophisticated. (JR)
71% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Franc, 4% Petit Verdot. Similar dark berry fruit as in the Ciel du Cheval though this has more Cabernet. Better balance on the palate though the alcohol does still show a little. Rich, rounded and firm. A big but harmonious wine. Long and rich and velvety and with a nice dry aftertaste. (JH)
