The 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon reveals a wonderful purity of cassis aromas and flavors and appears close to its peak, but there is the potential to hold at this level for a decade or more. It's medium to full-bodied, with a rich, velvety mouthfeel and refined, black tea tannins on the lingering finish.

Blackcurrant syrup, lovely leafy notes, smooth texture with a very savoury bite to finish. The austerity is very French, but the gloss and power is all-American. (RH)
(14.3% alcohol): Bright medium ruby. Aromas of blackberry, blueberry and herbs are accented by a slightly weedy herbal element. Not at all a sweet style, but boasts terrific energy and precision to its flavors of dark berries, saline minerality and pungent peppery herbs. There's nothing plush or fleshy about this rather claret-like wine but it's showing more fruit to go with its soil tones than it did at the outset. Finishes with serious but surprisingly suave tannins and excellent length and thrust. This still needs patience but promises more ahead.
Bright mid crimson. Some real interest on the nose that reminds me of hay bales. Quite ethereal (rather than soupy) and very much playing the altitude card. Transparent. Good vitality. Far from dense! Herbal with lots of acidity. (JR)
