The 2013 Cemetery emerges from one of St. Helena's top vineyards. Rich, voluptuous and unctuous to the core, the 2014 offers a compelling interplay of fruit intensity and nuance. Blackberry jam, crème de cassis, lavender and sweet spices flesh out in a striking, beautifully textured Cabernet Sauvignon. With time in the glass, the wine freshness up nicely as the aromatics start to release. This is a gorgeous example of the house style at its best. Then again, this is some of the best fruit in Napa Valley.

One of the staples for long-term in the Behrens Family Winery, is their 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Cemetery, which I believe comes from a small vineyard next to the cemetery in St. Helena. This is all Cabernet Sauvignon. The beautiful sweet cassis fruit, blackberry and spice box are impressive in this full-bodied, young, youthful, impressively endowed, multi-dimensional Cabernet Sauvignon. It’s still young, but accessible, because of the sweet tannin and opulence of the fruit. This should drink well for at least another 20-25 years.
The 2013 Cemetery is 100% Cabernet from one of the most highly regarded sites in St. Helena. It remains fresh for its age but is also a touch slender. Crushed red berry fruit, cinnamon and orange peel are nicely lifted. I very much like the energy here, but this feels a bit lean. Drink it over the next few years.
