This exotic, complex, deep ruby/purple-colored 1999 Pinot Noir exhibits notes of flowers, smoky bacon fat, cherry jam, and raspberries. It reveals a voluptuous texture, sweet, lavishly rich fruit, a long, pure mid-palate and finish, and enough acidity and tannin to frame this impressive effort. So many producers have made very fine wine from this vineyard (Ojai and Peter Michael to name two of the most prominent) that it is good to see the proprietor offering his own label.
