A blend of 52% Cabernet Franc, 34% Merlot and 14% Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2013 Paramour Proprietary Red is my favorite of the quartet. This wine shows wonderful forest floor and floral notes, blueberry and black raspberry, a dense ruby/purple color, a rich, full-bodied mouthfeel, but a sense of lightness and finesse. It’s a beautifully crafted and articulated wine with terrific precision and purity. Drink it over the next 10-15 years.

The Cabernet Franc-based 2013 Paramour has turned out beautifully. Espresso, mocha, soaring spice notes and black stone fruits are pushed forward. Aromatic, inviting and ample on the palate, the 2013 is full of Franc sensuality. Like all of the 2013s, the Paramour needs time in bottle to soften, but it is quite expressive today just the same.
The 2013 Paramour stands out from the rest of the wines in this range of 2013s for its voluptuous, creamy texture. The sheer richness of the fruit nearly covers the considerable tannin that lurks beneath. The dark, juicy finish is particularly inviting. I expect the 2013 will firm up as it goes into bottle, but today it is quite showy.
