Punteggio 100/100 · Da bere 2022-2045, Joe Czerwinski, Wine Advocate, Jun 2025

Tasted from magnum at the winery, Bryant's 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon delivers swirls of ripe cherries, ribboned through with classic hints of vanilla and pencil shavings. From that excitement and dynamism on the nose, it moves into a great suppleness and elegance on the medium- to full-bodied palate, with plenty of softly dusty tannins still present on the lingering finish. Just entering its prime—maybe even early for some consumers' preferences—this benchmark expression of Pritchard Hill should continue to drink well for at least another two decades.

Blackberry and blackcurrant character with dried flowers, iron and fresh mushrooms. Very subtle and complex. Medium-to full-bodied, very linear and focused with super fine tannins that are driven and succulent. Extremely long and flavorful. Shows precision and focus. Finely crafted. Subtle. Hard not to drink and contemplate now, but better after 2022.

The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon comes all from the estate on Pritchard Hill and was brought up mostly in new French oak. It’s an extraordinary wine in every aspect, revealing a saturated purple color, full body, thrilling depth and richness, and a classic perfume of crème de cassis, black cherry liqueur, graphite, and an incredibly floral component. This is a majestic Cabernet Sauvignon that grows on you with time in the glass. It offers incredible elegance and purity as well as serious amounts of underlying structure, some subtle oak, and a wealth of tannins.

Bryant's 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon is majestic. Soaring aromatics and silky, lacy textural nuances speak to finesse above all else. Polished and utterly impeccable, the 2016 builds on the success the estate first reached in 2014 and takes it to a very natural conclusion. Crème de cassis, blackberry jam, chocolate, mint and wild flowers all grace the palate, with impossibly silky, fine tannins that accentuate the wine's pure elegance. So many Napa Cabernets reveal themselves with ease, but the 2016 Bryant is a wine that brings the taster in, and only starts to show all of its cards with time.
