Note di degustazione
As with the 2013, the 2014 Evangelho Vineyard Heritage is a field blend of mostly Zinfandel from own-rooted vines planted in 1890. Beautiful spice, incense, kirsch liqueur, and mulberry notes all flow to a medium-bodied, silky, elegant red that has plenty to love. I suspect it’s on a fast evolutionary track, so plan on drinking bottles over the coming 3-5 years.

The 2014 Evangelho Heritage Wine is dark, fleshy and supple. Dark cherry, mint, pomegranate, blood orange, smoke, licorice, lavender and mint are some of the many nuances that open up in the glass. This site is planted with a field blend of Zinfandel, Carignane, Mataro, Palomino, Alicante Bouschet and Mission. More importantly, it is one of the most distinctive and polished wines in the range.
The 2014 Proprietary Red Evangelho Heritage, coming from the sandy soils of Contra Costa, is a field blend of Zinfandel, Carignan, Mourvèdre, Palomino, Alicante Bouschet and Mission. This is a relatively elegant wine, with an almost Pinot Noir-like finesse and complexity. Somewhat bistro-styled in its easygoing, midweight personality, it shows bright acids, loads of cranberry, black cherry and mulberry fruit, peppery spice and a nice, lovely finish. Drink it over the next 2-3 years.
