Intense aromas of mint, fine leather and ripe cherries emerge on the nose of the 2002 Vecina, which comes from a site near Harlan Estate, in the western hills of Oakville. It's full-bodied, supple and charming, with a long, long finish. While mature, it's in no danger of going off a cliff anytime soon.

The 2002 Vecina is a total turn-on. The warm, radiant vintage has softened some of the natural Vecina gravitas. Powerful and ample in all directions, but with great aromatic freshness and vivacity, the 2002 will thrill readers who own it for another 15-20 years. In a word: superb.
Dark ruby-red. Very ripe, exotic, slightly high-toned aromas of kirsch , plum, licorice and bitter chocolate. Dense, thick and primary but with an exotic cast to the dark berry and kirsch flavors. Large-scaled, mouthfilling wine with considerable power and energy. The material here is extraordinary but this still-primary wine is quite brooding in year 15. Despite its outstanding depth of flavor, it still needs time in bottle and may go on for another two decades.
