Note di degustazione
Full of plump raspberry fruit in colour and on the aromatics. The oak that was evident during En Primeur is softened and caramelised but still evident, giving a toasted kiss to the fruit. Unfussy and earthy, espresso, coffee grounds, tobacco, raspberry, plum. Delivers Pomerol signature and is ready to drink. Vignobles Péré Vergé

Tasted blind. Interesting, savoury nose. Then very fluid, fresh, super-fruity palate. Some inkiness. A pretty wine that is less sweet that most Pomerols. Good focus and energy. (JR)
The 2005 Le Gay is a massive, masculine Pomerol, very much in the style of Gazin, but showing much more minerality, abundant blue and black fruits, a full-bodied mouthfeel, and loads of tannin in a youthful, backward style, even at age 10. Give this wine at least another 5-10 years of cellaring and drink it over the following quarter-century.

There’s been lots of change at Ch. le Gay since the Parent family arrived in 2002 – with vineyards replanted, the cellars renovated and the winemaking adjusted. No surprise, perhaps, that quality is now higher than ever.
