Punteggio 16.5/20 · Da bere 2022-2029, Julia Harding MW, jancisrobinson.com, Feb 2022

Full bottle 1,346 g. According to owner Edouard Parinet, 'this was a  vintage marked by the frost. Pretty much like 2017 at CMV, the rest of the season was kind of ideal. The wine gained a lot of colour after bottling.' 35% whole cluster but huge differentiation between frosted vs non-frosted lieux-dits. Ageing is 32% oak and 68% stainless steel. Oak is on average 4 years old 'as no new oak' was brought last year. Light to mid cherry red with some pink at the rim – lighter than I expected but no bearing on quality. Gorgeous and seductive fruit aroma, perfumed rather than sweet, open and aromatic with a more savoury, almost earthy side to it that I cannot quite put into words. On the palate, super-silky tannins for such a young wine, a lightness of touch and yet intensity of fruit with a refreshing bite on the finish. An elegant take on this cru but with the depth and balance to age well. (JH)

Full bottle 1,340 g. Vines from 40 to over 80 years of age. Aged 18 months in stainless steel (80%) and barrel (20%). Garnet hue, pale at the rim. Fruity and flattering with crushed-raspberry and cherry notes. Ripe but lively palate, the tannins fine. Minerally freshness on the finish . (JL)

Full bottle 1,340 g. We are counselled to decant this twice into a decanter for one hour but I cheated a bit by decanting into my young wine decanter and aerating furiously. Immediately below is my immediate tasting note: After 1 minute Pale garnet. Rich and lively with masses of slightly bitter tamarind fruit and finesse. Silky texture and a suggestion of dunked biscuits. After vigorous decanting and aeration and 60 minutes Rather subtler than an hour ago with more energy and vibrancy but still with the silky texture. Smoother and more evolved than I would have expected from a Moulin-à-Vent but delivers lots of pleasure. Score and drink dates relate to these impressions. (JR)

Charming, fruit forward notes red and black cherries, cedary herbs, and graphite all emerge from the 2019 Château Moulin A Vent, and it's medium-bodied, with a rounded, beautifully textured mouthfeel, light tannins, and a great finish. This impressive Moulis should drink nicely right out of the gate.
