Quite dark. Sweet and meat extract on the nose and a bit forced. Not very classic Margaux. Drying finish. (JR)

2ème Cru Classé Notably dark crimson. A bit of oak but more sumptuousness than most on the nose. Good balance and fills the palate nicely. Well done! I don’t remember being impressed by this en primeur. Pretty dry tannins on the finish though. I wonder if the wine will ever shed them. Chunky rather than fine. (JR)
A candidate for one of the top wines of the vintage, Lascombes has turned in a brilliant effort with a deep ruby/purple color as well as gorgeous aromas of plums, cassis, black cherries, and flowers. It boasts a terrific texture, medium to full body, an expansive, multi-layered mid-palate and a tremendously pure finish revealing nicely integrated wood, acidity, alcohol, and tannin. This is a beauty of precision and power. Anticipated maturity: 2007-2020.
Very, very deep purple! Quite different from the rest. Second vintage of the new regime. On the nose, it could be from anywhere. Very brutal – almost sour. This does not taste like Bordeaux! Forced, with a very uncomfortable finish. (JR)
