The top five Pomerols from J.P Mouiex (Certan d May, Providence, Hosanna, La Fleur Petrus and Trotanoy) are absolutely terrific in 2011. La Fleur Petrus has a lovely tone to the blue fruit nose. Very refined and juicy with a terrific sense of energy and harmony.

The 2011 La Fleur-Pétrus has satisfying concentration on the nose, given the off-vintage in question. Light terracotta scents permeate the loose-knit red fruit and a touch of wild mint emerges with time. The palate is quite ripe on the entry, with touches of clove toward the soft landing on the finish. It has decent length. Drink this now and over the next decade. Tasted at Jeroboam's Bordeaux tasting.

The 2011 La Fleur-Petrus has a well-defined, what feels like Cabernet Franc-tinged bouquet with black pepper, sous-bois and light tobacco scents percolating through the black fruit. The palate is medium-bodied, simple with fleshy, quite saturated tannins. Cohesive towards the finish with black pepper, clove and truffle, this has fine complexity and reveals more personality and charm with aeration. Tasted blind at the annual 10-Year-On tasting.

Tasted blind. Mid ruby. Sweet, slightly simple nose. Sweet red fruits without too much complexity. Tannins still in evidence. (JR)
