Note di degustazione
The 2016 Alter Ego has an attractive nose, a mélange of red and black fruit, pressed flowers, inkwell and light sous-bois scents. Very pure. The palate is medium-bodied with juicy tannins, fine acidity, a bit backward and maybe not quite as complex on the finish as its peers. This is one that I would like to revisit in three or four years. Tasted blind at the Southwold 10-Year-On tasting.

The 2016 Alter Ego de Palmer has a perfumed bouquet of juicy black fruit, boysenberry jam and light violet aromas. The palate is sweet and chewy on the entry, and quite compact, with firm tannins, leading to a lightly spiced finish. It just misses some excitement and pizzazz compared to its peers. Tasted blind at the Southwold tasting.
Tasted blind. First bottle: TCA . Second bottle: Very dark crimson. Damp-fur nose and black-cherry palate. But it’s not too hot on the end – just a little too ripe. Sinewy leathery tannins on the end. (JR)
