Note di degustazione
(a 50/50 blend of cabernet sauvignon and cabernet franc; 14.2% alcohol) Deep ruby. Crushed black raspberry, black cherry and tobacco on the nose. Lush and creamy on the palate, with dark berry, licorice and saline flavors framed by sound acids. Po werful if somewhat unrefined; this tastes bigger than 14.2% alcohol. Finishes long and slightly salty, with dusty tannins.

(a 50/50 blend of cabernet sauvignon and cabernet franc) Saturated ruby. Complex, almost syrah-like aromas of blackberry liqueur, graphite, game, woodsmoke, earth and flint. Lush, silky and huge, with extraordinary creamy sweetness; this has a much softer texture than a number of these young 2002s. A real fruit bomb of a red, finishing very long and lush, with blackberry and violet flavors. One senses the thoroughly ripe cabernet franc element today.
The inky/purple 2002 Cabernet Sauvignon Dr. Crane is a blend of equal parts Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. Revealing the latter varietal’s gorgeous menthol, blueberry, and floral characteristics along with tremendous texture, this rich, long, spectacular 2002 holds great promise. Anticipated maturity: 2006-2018. I admire what Les Behrens, Bob Hitchcock, their wives, friends, and lunatic dog are doing at their winery and cellars on the top of Spring Mountain. They are obsessed fanatics who make wine with no compromises ... obviously my kind of people. Tel. 707-963-1774; Fax 707-963-8206
