La Bouissiere is one of this appellation’s up and coming estates, and I have been very pleased with the evolution of one of their first top vintages, 1998. They did not present their 2005s for tasting, but the sexy, open-knit 2004 Gigondas exhibits attractive levels of sweet cherry and blacker fruits, earth, and spice. Supple-textured and easy to drink, it should be consumed over the next 5-7 years. Importers: David Hinkle, North Berkeley Imports, Berkeley, CA; tel. Dark red. Fresh raspberry and strawberry aromas enlivened by mineral and floral tones. Impressively energetic and balanced for a wine with 16% alcohol, with precise red fruit flavors framed by fine-grained tannins. A persistent sweetness carries through the finish.
Saturated deep red. Smoky and lush on the nose, with aromas of sweet red berries and cherry complemented by rose, garrigue and roasted coffee. On the palate, this boasts excellent energy and precise red berry fruit flavors. Finishes floral, juicy and long, with little sign of its 16% alcohol.
