Punteggio 92/100 · Da bere 2022-2028, Josh Raynolds, Apr 2020

Dark, glistening ruby. Aromas of ripe, spice-tinged dark berries, licorice and candied flowers, along with a hint of olive paste. Silky and round on the palate, offering sweet blueberry, cherry and spicecake flavors that turn livelier on the back half. Dusty tannins add grip to a long, smoke-tinged finish that strongly repeats the cherry and spice notes.

Punteggio 91/100 · Da bere 2022-2030, Joe Czerwinski, Wine Advocate, Jan 2020

Showing more than a touch of austerity, the 2017 Saint Joseph needs a couple of years in the cellar. It's herbal and ashy up front, balancing those elements with grilled meat and black olives. Medium to full-bodied, it's firm and tight but also fine-boned and long on the finish.

I loved Graillot’s 2017 Saint Joseph. This beauty just screams Northern Rhône! Ground pepper, blackberries, leafy herbs, game, and hints of bacon fat all flow to a medium-bodied, elegant Saint Joseph that has nicely integrated acidity, building tannins, and a great finish. It needs 3-4 years of bottle age but will impress for at least 8-10 years. The Graillot family continues to release traditional, age-worthy, classic wines under their family label. Northern Rhône doesn’t get any more Northern Rhône than these releases and they’ve done well in both 2017 and 2018. Readers should also check out the Equis and Domaine des Lises releases, both made by Maxime Graillot.
