Note di degustazione
An archetypical Kiedricher Berg performance opens with bittersweet gentian and iris perfume allied to quarry dust and ocean breeze. The satiny palate conveys a memorable impression of chomping on flowers and foliage as well as licking chalk. Juicy lime and grapefruit offer refreshment, while a striking, gripping finish features chalk, salt, iodine, and the mouthwatering savor of toasted shrimp shell. At 13 percent alcohol, this displays fullness, but thankfully neither heaviness nor heat.

The 2015 Kiedrich Turmberg Riesling Trocken offers a deep, intense, very cool and mineral, but calm bouquet of crushed and melting stones, along with stewed stone fruits and flinty aromas. The attack on the palate is clear, fresh and piquant; the wine pure, dense, powerful and very straight, finishing with lots of salt and concentration. The wine has great balance and expression, and certainly a great ageing potential up to 20 years.
The Turmberg is only classified as an Erste Lage (premier cru), but ventures boldly into grand cru territory with its rendition of 2015 trocken. The pronounced aromatic fragrance includes ripe local green and exotic fruit and an exhilarating notion of green herbs. On the palate the cool taste of lime and mint enters a delicious alliance with a compact stony minerality and some phenolic peel notes. Generous texture, great substance, superb execution of dry Riesling. (MS)
