2005 Napa Valley Red Blend

Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot. Average 30 days’ skin contact. Aged 18 months, 85% in new French oak barrels. Certified organic (CCOF) and biodynamic (Demeter).               Medium ruby in colour, with a wide garnet rim. Dried-berry mix – blueberries, raspberries and currants – with just a slight iodine edge – ferrous – with subtle dried herbs, earth and green pepper. The tannins are, at this point, quite mellow and supple. Mouth-watering, tangy acidity that stretches the finish, which evolves cocoa notes and leather in addition to berry and light spice. I wouldn't hold this too much longer but it is looking lovely right now. (SCJ)
