A beautiful effort that certainly competes with the single-vineyard releases, the 2012 Pinot Noir Santa Lucia Highlands offers up a gorgeous bouquet of black cherries, black raspberry, wild herbs, rose petal and Asian spice to go with a medium-bodied, layered, balanced and rich palate feel. Rounded, with solid richness and upfront fruit, this knockout Pinot Noir will drink nicely for over a decade.

The 2012 Pinot Noir Santa Lucia Highlands is a drop-dead gorgeous beauty. Dark red cherry, plums, cinnamon, rose petals, leather and mint form an attractive core in an effortless, absolutely delicious Pinot with tons of near term appeal. Suave, silky tannins support the radiant, expressive finish. There is so much to like here.
Vivid ruby. Powerful aromas of dark berries, potpourri and smoky Moroccan spices. Sweet, fleshy and deeply pitched, offering expansive black raspberry and spicecake flavors and a sexy floral pastille nuance. Silky tannins build slowly on the finish, which lingers with excellent, floral-dominated persistence. Showing a darker character than the Sonoma bottlings but just as much vivacity.
