Punteggio 91/100 · Da bere 2025-2035, Jeb Dunnuck, May 2025

A solid step up, the 2023 Côtes Du Rhône reveals red and black fruits, pepper, iron, spice, and violet notes. Medium-bodied and beautifully balanced on the palate, it shows classic Clape character and impressive length. This beautiful wine will drink nicely over the coming 8-10 years. Drink 2025-2035. This is another beautiful lineup from the Clape family. The 2023s are supple and upfront, with terrific depth of fruit. Due to tiny yields, no Renaissance cuvée was produced in 2022, and the Grand Vin is brilliant stuff, with a sunny yet concentrated, structured style that reminds me of the estate's 2017. These are beautiful, classic Cornas that readers will love. In addition, don't miss their Saint-Péray, a fresher, crisp, absolutely delicious white.

Notes of dark cherries and dark wild berries mingled with flowers and violet preface the 2023 Côtes du Rhône from Clape, a moderately weighted, round and supple wine with a juicy character, elegant tannins and a long, floral and mouthwatering finish. Crafted from 50- to 60-year-old vines planted in sandy, granite soils, this is a nice, classic rendition.

The classic 2023 Côtes du Rhône begins with hints of black olive, black cherry, pencil shaving and spicy dimensions. Medium-bodied, round and refreshing, the strait-laced 2023 caps off with notable elegance on the smooth finish.

Aged in foudres and concrete tank. Dark and zesty. Meaty on the palate. Tight and structured at the moment so best give it a little time. Should be delicious. (JL)
