Note di degustazione
The 2008 Pinot Noir Zio Tony Ranch offers up notes of sweet plums, applebutter, spice box, herbs and wild strawberries. Like the Bondi Home Ranch, it is a youthful, unevolved 2008 that is firm and pure with abundant raspberry and black cherry fruit characteristics. This full-bodied Pinot Noir should drink nicely for a decade or more. The venerable Martinelli winery, one of the iconic families and longtime growers in Sonoma, has turned out another impressive group of wines. Tel. (707) 525-0570; Fax (707) 525-9463

Bright ruby. Sexy aromas of dark berry preserves, cola, clove, rose and anise. Round, fleshy cherry-vanilla and floral pastille flavors are enlivened by baking spices and smoky minerals. An open-knit, invitingly sweet pinot displaying minimal tannins, this finishes with very good lift and lingering licorice and spice notes.

Martinelli is a Sonoma benchmark for vineyard-designate bottlings—wines built to highlight how strongly a single site can shape Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Syrah, and Zinfandel. Across the range, the focus stays consistent: small-production bottlings that feel distinctly tied to where they’re grown.
