Deep, saturated red-ruby color. Superripe aromas of red- and blackcurrant, licorice, tar and camphor, along with a suggestion of almost tropical fruits. Big, sweet, layered and lush, but also fresh and aromatic in the mouth, thanks to light floral and minty nuances. Tar and mineral notes contribute complexity. Finishes with a youthful medicinal edge despite its sweetness; substantial oak; and big, tongue-dusting tannins. This impressively tactile cabernet may ultimately surpass the outstanding '98 made here.
