While the top wines from this small family run estate come from their Gigondas holdings, they also release high-quality wines from Cairanne, Rasteau, Côtes du Rhône, and Ventoux. They’ve done well in both 2015 and 2016, and this is a terrific estate readers should have on their short list.

Brusset owns 18 hectares in Gigondas. This 2015 Gigondas Tradition les Grands Montmirail entry-level bottling is from the estate's lowest terraces (and warmest site). It's dark, plummy and chocolaty, almost fudge-like, with impressive density and richness, but there's also a bit of dead-fruit character. I'd opt to drink it over the near term.
Brilliant ruby-red. Spice-tinged aromas of black raspberry, cherry liqueur and pungent flowers pick up a hint of smoky minerals with air. Sappy and gently sweet, offering pliant red and blue fruit flavors and a spicy touch of white pepper. Fine-grained tannins shape a long, juicy finish that hangs on tenaciously.
80% Grenache plus Syrah, Mourvèdre and Cinsault. Lovely soy and earth aromas, deep black fruit and rich spicy character. Fine clay texture, lengthy finish. (RH)
