Vinified and matured in 600-liter barrels, the 2021 Monoparcelle 538 displays more evident oak at this stage than the barrel sample, which was tasted a year ago. This has left Riffault a little disappointed. The fruit's texture and delicacy are impressive, as are its concentration, finesse and shape. Flavors of nectarine, vanilla and oak are on display. Based on his learnings in this vintage, Riffault will use larger format, older wood from now on.
