The 2008 Recioto della Valpolicella Classico is a marvelous effort. Dark, jammy blueberris, currants, sweet spices and licorice come together beautifully in this sumptuous, vinous wine. Recioto is never inexpensive, but this is about as delicious a wine as readers will find anywhere near this price range. Fine, silky tannins round out the exceptional, polished finish. (500 ml)

Anticipated maturity: 2012-2018. Tommaso Bussola remains a benchmark producer of fine Amarone and Recioto. His wines are remarkable for their textural richness, polish and overall class.
