Note di degustazione
Sourced from granite slopes between Mauves and Tournon, the 2018 Saint Joseph Domaine de la Croix des Vignes is a super effort marked by scents of crushed stone, violets, raspberries and blueberries. There's less spice than (for example) the Crozes-Hermitage from Domaine de Thalabert but more stone. It's medium to full-bodied, aristocratic and almost Hermitage-like in character, being restrained, straight and very long, finishing on hints of licorice and espresso.

Deep ruby/plum-hued with a classic Saint-Joseph nose of blackberries, mulberries, pepper, sappy green herbs, and chocolate, the 2018 Saint Joseph La Croix Des Vignes is nicely concentrated, has a medium to full-bodied mouthfeel, ripe tannins, and a great finish. This rich, mouthfilling, impressive Saint Joseph offers lots to love. I'd give bottles 2-3 years and it's going to evolve for over a decade. It's a serious wine.
Dark violet. Displays expansive aromas of dark berry and cherry preserves, black pepper and peony, with a smoky nuance that builds as the wine opens up. Fleshy and broad on the palate but surprisingly energetic, offering vibrant black raspberry and cherry flavors and a hint of candied flowers. Finishes seamless and impressively long, with repeating florality and supple tannins that add shape and gentle grip.
