Punteggio 93/100 · Da bere 2023-2033, Jeb Dunnuck, May 2023

The 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard The Three Kings showed nicely, with a Bordeaux-like vibe in its aromatics as well as its structure. Red and black fruits, cedar pencils, spice, tobacco, and floral notes all develop with air, and it's medium-bodied, silky, and elegant on the plate, with outstanding length. I’d certainly be happy to drink a bottle any time over the coming decade.

(all clone 7): Bright ruby-red. Lovely violet lift to the aroma of blueberry, cassis, tobacco and aromatic spices, along with a cooler suggestion of menthol. Lovely intensity to the silky flavors of dark berries, licorice and fresh herbs, which are nicely framed by ripe acidity. Spreads out horizontally on the finish, finishing with a subtle herbal complexity and supple tannins.

The 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To Kalon The Three Kings possesses good fruit and ripeness, but it did not jump out at me as much as I expected. I thought the Hossfeld Coliseum and Cabernet Sauvignon Coliseum Block were slightly more interesting. The Three Kings reveals a touch of dilution, but the fruit is still beautiful with lots of cassis, flowers and spice. This medium-bodied 2011 is best consumed over the next decade. For a number of years, this has been one of most impressive portfolios in Napa Valley, and as one might expect, the 2010s are outrageous offerings. Tel. (707) 445-0311

(from clone 7 in D Block): Bright medium ruby. Sexy, bright perfume of cassis, violet and licorice. Dense, sweet and concentrated, but with a distinctly primary, even youthfully brutal, quality to the dark fruit flavors. Finishes with serious tongue-drying tannins and sound acidity. This makes the Grand Daddy cabernet seem green in comparison.
