Note di degustazione
An invigorating nose of lime zest, ocean breeze, and diverse flowers draws you into a glass of Clos Rougeard 2002 Saumur Breze. Clear, pure citrus, pit fruit, floral perfume and shimmering minerality combine for a show-stopping palate, and the profoundly chalky, meaty, and persistently floral, citric and pit-fruited finish exhibits a remarkable combination of clarity, buoyancy and sheer concentration. This will be worth following for at least another dozen years. (Lest one imagine that the Foucaults can do no wrong in my nostrils, I was quite underwhelmed with their 2001 white. For notes on the domaine’s reds, please consult the coverage of Cabernet Franc elsewhere in this report.) Importer: Louis/Dressner Selections, New York, NY; tel. (212) 334-8191

Informazioni sul produttore

Clos Rougeard is one of the Loire Valley’s most famous producers. Based in Saumur-Champigny, it produces fine Cabernet Franc in tiny volumes – wines that are almost impossible to source.
