Punteggio 90/100 · Da bere 2016-2018, David Schildknecht, Vinous, May 2016
Kesseler has in recent years bottled two different entry-level Pinot Noirs sourced from fruit contracts, the larger lot of which originates in the Pfalz (as a close examination of the label will reveal). Smoky, saline accents to fraise du bois and sour cherry fruit mark the nose as well as the bright, positively tart-edged palate. An upwelling of meat stock on the silken palate adds to the very Pinot-typical sense of mouthwatering savor. This pure-fruited, impeccably balanced, mouthwatering bottling is a perfect as well as astonishingly affordable introduction to its celebrated grape’s distinct virtues.
