Note di degustazione
The 2018 Ried Zieregg Sauvignon Blanc is very pure, phenolic and still reductive on the deep, fresh and yeasty nose that reveals crunchy limestone and zesty lemon juice aromas as well as notes of lime leaves. Intense and juicy on the palate, this is a powerful, dense and structured, complete yet still quite phenolic, mineral and sustainable Zieregg with ripe yet fresh acidity, challenging tannins and a long, still tight but promising finish. The 2018 is terribly young but full of energy, grip, salt and expression. Of all the Ziereggs tasted for this report, this is the most typical and exciting, even though it is still challenging. It will be worth waiting some years before drinking. 13.5% alcohol. Tasted in October 2020.

Classified as GSTK (equivalent to grand cru) in the private association known as the Steirische Terroir- and Klassikweingüter. Indistinct nose. Sweet and sour without the two elements being knit. A bit astringent. This does nothing to make me think better of the 2018 vintage in Austria. (JR)
